The Active Air Cooling has been improved to a new standard, which is the optimum for the ProCORE18V batteries. Where with the previous chargers we pulled air through the battery, the GAL 18V-160 C blows air with two power fans from the charger to the batteries. This allows air to be moved and cool the battery more effectively.
The Bosch GAL 18V-160 C Professional charges the ProCORE18V 8.0Ah to 80% in 32 minutes or the ProCORE18V 4.0Ah to 50% in 9 minutes using the Power Boost Mode.
1. HDPE plastic material with an extra wide surface:
Highly efficient dissipation of heat away from the cells to the enlarged outer surface of the battery. In effect, the battery pack gets warm on the outside, but the core stays cool.
2. No air gaps between the cells:
Every cell is fully covered with HDPE cooling material, ensuring there are no air gaps inside or around the battery cells – no cell-damaging heat is trapped inside the battery.
3. TPE sheet:
Fitted on the inside of the battery side covers to further eliminate air gaps, ensuring that heat dissipates directly through the material to the outer surface.
Heat dissipating materials and an effective architecture keep the cells cool while significantly increasing lifetime and runtime. During usage, heat is generated in the cells. If this heat is not dissipated, the cells stay hot longer which could cause damage to the cells. Bosch heat management with its COOLPACK technology ensures a fast and consistent heat transfer from the inside of the cell to the outside of the battery.
Both batteries provide 864W. Therefore, ProCORE18V 4.0Ah needs only 5 cells in the battery pack to deliver the same capacity and power instead of 10 cells compared to the GBA 18V 4.0Ah.
ProCORE18V 4.0Ah is using the latest generation of cylindrical Li-Ion battery cells, which have more capacity and power per cell.
